Biography

Jane Montosi was born and raised in Pembroke, Massachusetts where she made her debut at age 8 as “Ophelia” in Hamlet in the elementary school cafeteria! Spending her high school years performing in plays and winning awards for Dramatic Interpretation in the National Forensic League, she went on to receive her BA in Theater from Connecticut College with a minor in Russian and Eastern European Studies. (She wanted to read Chekhov, her favorite playwright.) During her college years, she spent a semester at the National Theater Institute at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center where she discovered a passion for ensemble-based theater, classics, and mask work. She also spent a semester at the Moscow Art Theater School. Working with these master teachers, and getting to play “Irina” from Chekhov’s Three Sisters on his stage was a highpoint in her education!

When living in New York, Jane completed the conservatory program at Michael Howard Studios concluding in an ensemble production of Charles Mee’s The Trojan Women: A Love Story. Her warmth, talent, and strong choices as a character actress landed her roles there in film, internet sketch comedy, commercials, and new plays. She helped found and produce "Grandma's Moustache", a hysterical sketch comedy/play that played to sold out houses in NYC. She also was a weekly castmember doing comedy radio voiceover for WABC's "The Daily Comedy Network". She became a proud company member of MTWorks, a wonderful theater company dedicated to new works.

Recently Jane moved to Los Angeles, and is happy to be represented by Susan Nathe & Associates. With a strong stage background, and NYC film experience, LA seemed the perfect place to increase her opportunity to seek out and tell amazing stories. She has already shot a few shorts, and done motion capture and voiceover work for video games and websites. Also, with her love for comedy, she's begun her Second City training. Now in addition to acting, she is writing and producing short films. Shooting just wrapped on the first, "A Place of Rescue", and news of it's path is soon to come!
